Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (LP) presidential candidate, is a failed politician whose main goal right now is to undermine Nigeria’s democracy, according to renowned actor and chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Kenneth Okonkwo.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to Mr. Okonkwo, who appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, should have already disqualified Atiku for travelling to the north to make such a “genocidal speech.”
“Atiku Abubakar travelled to the north and declared that northerners should only support other northerners, not Yoruba or Igbo, as this would constitute ethnic profiling.
“Atiku knows that he has failed, what he is trying to do now is to make sure he destroys our democracy after he has failed and he should be called to order.

“INEC should be implementing Section 97 of the Electoral Act now on Atiku because what he has done is a criminal offence (trying to profile ethnic and religious groups.
“I have always said he is very unfit to be president and not only that he is unfit, he is now a threat to our democracy,” the lawyer argued.
He claimed that, in contrast to several other candidates in the 2023 presidential race, the presidential candidate of his party does not play his politics with any ethnic prejudice.
Mr. Okonkwo claimed that while other significant candidates for the 2023 election are already using the ethnic card, Obi is the only one who is nationalistic in his outlook and supports an unified Nigeria where genuine change is possible.

Recall that Alhaji Atiku recently made some remarks during an interactive session of the Arewa Townhall Policy Dialogue in Kaduna, which served as the foundation for Mr. Okonkwo’s comment.
Atiku stated at the gathering that the average northerner currently needs a northerner who is familiar with other regions of Nigeria and has the ability to forge connections throughout the nation.
He continued by urging all northerners to support him in 2023 rather than a “Yoruba or an Igbo candidate,” making a comment that has since sparked intense discussion on ethnic prejudice and the need to prevent Nigeria from imploding.
