In order to prevent a breakdown in peace and order as a result of tensions brought on by the collation of the results of the gubernatorial and state Assembly elections, the Kano State Government has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew.

In a statement released early on Monday, the state’s commissioner for information and internal affairs, Muhammad Garba, claimed the decision was taken to stop hoodlums from generating disorder in the already tense environment.

He warned residents of the state to stay indoors because security personnel would not spare anyone or any organisation out to stir up unrest.
