During a conversation with reporters on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye voiced his worries about the hunger and impoverishment of Nigerians. He emphasised that the severe economic difficulties is leaving a lot of people dejected and concerned about where they would get their next meal.

Additionally, Oyintiloye pleaded with the president to take the UN’s estimate that by 2030, 82 million Nigerians—roughly 64% of the nation’s population—may be hungry. He referenced statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which showed that the nation’s food inflation rate surpassed the increase of 40.53 percent the previous month and reached a record high of 40.66 percent in May.

Oyintiloye, a former member of the now-defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), observed that the typical Nigerian is finding it more and more difficult to buy common household food products due to price increases. Notwithstanding the nation’s wealth in natural and people resources, the economy has not been effectively stimulated by the country’s rulers.

He made the point that the development of a successful and self-sufficient economy for the benefit of the general public is hampered by corruption and an excessive reliance on the distribution of crude oil money by the government tiers.

Oyintiloye stressed that the impact of President Tinubu’s different intervention programmes has not been adequate to alleviate the economic misery, even though he is accepting that the president is attempting to solve the problem. He observed that the cost of staple foods for the average household, such spaghetti, garri, beans, and rice, is rising.
