The Ondo State Security Network Agency Law’s first amendment, known as Amotekun, has been approved by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu, who signed the measure in his office’s State Executive Chamber, said the new modification was necessary in view of the state’s increased insecurity.
The governor gave his word that the modified Law would improve the state’s security system and aid the Amotekun Corps in doing its job more effectively.
He was grateful that the bill was swiftly passed by the State House of Assembly.
Similar to this, the Ondo State Executive Council has made several significant choices to further influence the direction of governance for the benefit of the state’s citizens.
At the conclusion of the Council meeting, the newly appointed Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, expressed her concern that a further death had been reported as a result of the terrorist attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, on June 5.
Ademola-Olateju claims that there have been 41 fatalities so far, while 17 people are currently being treated in hospitals.
The Commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to have a memorial site created in honor of all the victims while expressing sympathy to the lost families and wishing for a quick recovery for those who are still in the hospital.
Also present at the briefing was Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the governor’s special security adviser, who thanked Gov. Akeredolu for his support of the legislative modification that created the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun.
He gave his word that the new development would increase the state security organization’s operating capabilities.
Adeleye took advantage of the event to make an announcement about the purchase of newly acquired operational vehicles that would be given to all state security personnel, including the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Directorate of State Security, and Amotekun Corps, in order to improve the effectiveness of those organizations.
