Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, claimed on Thursday, November 10, 2022 that the alleged investments made by Peter Obi, his predecessor, were worthless.

Soludo stated he is not aware of any investment in the state by any of his predecessors during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

The governor also discussed the intentions his administration has for the residents of Anambra State, adding that more than 5,000 teachers in the region will soon receive job letters.

Soludo responded simply, “I don’t know about the investment,” when asked about his opinion on government investments outside the public sector with reference to Obi as the former governor of Anambra.

“Our interview is about the 2023 budget. I’m not talking about investments of any of my predecessors. By the way the one that you talked about I don’t know about that. I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investment. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside,” he added.

“We are handing out employment letters to more than 5, 000 teachers to end an era of schools without teachers.

“We are going to have 240 plus doctors and consultants to man our general hospitals, so if you look at the five fingers approach of our programmes we designed our budget to keep our eyes on the ball.”

Remember that just 6,000 of the 31,000 applicants who took part in the online recruitment test for teachers in the state of Anambra got through.

Less than two months after taking office, Soludo issued an order to hire teachers for both elementary and secondary schools to improve the state’s teacher-to-student ratio.

Following the most recent teachers’ Computer Based Test (CBT), 6,250 applicants were selected for oral interviews for teaching posts across the state, according to the state’s information commissioner, Mr. Paul Nwosu.

Following his presentation of the N258.97 billion 2023 budget to the House of Assembly chambers in Awka, the governor made his observations.

The N170 billion amended 2022 budget that Soludo presented in May saw an increase in the budget dubbed “the budget of acceleration.”

The 2023 budget, he claimed during the presentation, represents the “single-minded dedication and commitment to continue pressing the accelerator pedals in spite of the dangerous bumps along the route” of his administration.
