The vulnerable and down trodden in Lagos State will continue to receive the attention of the State Government in form of financial assistance to make them stand out of poverty in other to empower others in need.
The Special Adviser to the Governor, Office of Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale stated this at the disbursement of cash support to over fifty beneficiaries of a social welfare programme tagged “Sanwo-olu Listens” designed to create financial support for the vulnerable in the State in Alausa- lkeja.
She explained that “Sanwo-Olu Listens” is borne out of the continuous aspirations of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration to support struggling individuals in the State as clearly stated during his electioneering campaign to continue to support a lot of people in need of financial assistance to solve a mirage of challenges ranging from chronic ailments, accidents, diverse degrees of disasters, loss of jobs, businesses and livelihoods occasioned by the prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic which is ravaging the world.
Princess Adebowale explained that the Office of Civic Engagement screened and shortlisted walk-in applications and nominations received from various platforms in the public domain with beneficiaries of the “Sanwo-olu Listens” initiative emerging according to the degree and nature of their various financial challenges.
Presenting cheques to the over fifty beneficiaries, Governor Sanwo-olu urged them to make good use of the financial assistance to make them self reliant.
He said his administration will continue to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in the State via the various social welfare programmes organised by the office of the Civic Engagement and other platforms.
In his words of appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, an upcoming entrepreneur, Miss Ayodele Megbafe thanked the Governor for his kind heart towards the less – priviledged, saying the cash assistance will help in lifting them out of poverty.
