Food items and cash palliatives were distributed to widows and the elderly as part of a humanitarian effort to lessen the burden of rising living expenses brought on by the loss of fuel subsidies.
The statement above was made on Thursday during the event held at the Multipurpose Hall in Ojo by Hon. Rasulu Olusola Idowu, also known as Mr. Project, the Executive Chairman of the Ojo Local Government.
According to Hon. Idowu, the removal of the fuel subsidy has had a significant impact on the day-to-day lives of our elderly and widowed population. As a result of rising transportation costs, inflation, and limited access to resources, they are finding it more and more difficult to meet their basic needs. As such, there is an urgent need to support them as they navigate these transitional challenges and ensure their well-being.
With the support of the Lagos State Employment Fund (LSETF), which would give soft loans to them, the LG. Boss promised to put up endless effort in creating long-term initiatives that empower widows and elderly community members. These initiatives will focus on entrepreneurship, skill development, and promoting self-reliance.

The distribution of food items and the cash palliatives scheme benefited about 500 widows and elderly people from each of the five political wards in the local government area.
Speaking at the occasion, every beneficiary who had a chance to speak was grateful for the Executive Chairman’s efforts to lessen their burden in light of the gasoline subsidy reduction.
