Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has insisted he won’t join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A few days after the 2023 elections were held, he said it on Tuesday’s episode of Politics Today on Channels Television. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from northern Nigeria, was opposed by Fayose, who believed that power should migrate to the south.
According to him, the principles of equality dictated that southern Nigeria should assume control at the federal level, and this is why he supported Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as president-elect.
“Many people in Nigeria have been confronted with what they have said at different times and they either recant or say something new. I stand here to tell you that I will never be a member of the APC. I am not in politics for what it is anymore. I have been given a fair opportunity to lead Ekiti two times and defeated two incumbents.”

“I have no apology for my action now and in the future. I have not hidden my respect for Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) now the president-elect.” he added.
The major opposition PDP, according to Ayodele Fayose, was divided and unprepared for the 2023 elections. He urged the party to unite and prepare for the 2027 elections if they wanted to win the presidency.
The events building up to the elections in 2023 and the overwhelming interest from young people, he added, demonstrate that things are not as they used to be and advised the nation’s leaders to get their act together.
“Young people’s contempt was evident. They went for the leaders’ neck and took it out, sacked them, and occupied the space. Please let me to reiterate that this is a caution and further warning for anyone entering and returning that if you mistreat the populace, they will mistreat you in four years, Fayose added.
