Two people have been shortlisted to receive the Rivers State Merit Award in the second award category (RSMA).

The awarding of state honours is being done for the second time this year. The first, still led by Governor Nyesom Wike, took place in 2017 to cap off the state’s 50th anniversary celebration.

At that time, 127 notable individuals who had made significant contributions to the state in a variety of human endeavours were recognised.

For their exceptional contributions to the development of Rivers State at various points in time, several of the award recipients received posthumous recognition.
