Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, lacks the skills necessary to address Nigeria’s security crisis, according to Adams Oshiomhole, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole claimed that Obi cannot persuade Nigerians that he can solve the country’s security issues because he failed to do so as governor of Anambra in a speech he delivered on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the progressive young leaders summit hosted by the APC in Abuja.
“For those of you who are social media warriors, you need to address these concerns. Look at the first six months of governor Obiano’s rule in Anambra state on Google,” he said.
“What you will find on YouTube is governor Obiano using bulldozers to demolish the houses of kidnappers and those who were involved in what they called Bakassi boys or even girls.

“Who was the governor when Bakassi developed in Anambra and who solved the problem? So, if a man couldn’t fix a security challenge in his own state which requires courage, how can he convince that he would fix the security challenges all over Nigeria?
“Don’t take it from me. Go to YouTube and find out about the first six months of governor Obiano and find out who was his predecessor.
“If the [predecessor] had solved the problem, will Obiano be using bulldozers to demolish people’s houses — houses of kidnappers and Bakassi boys?

“So, when they say ‘I will fix Nigeria’, did you fix your state?”
In a recent interview with CNN, Obi stated that Nigeria is in danger of disintegrating and that, if elected, he will deal with the country’s security issues and economic problems.
Obi claimed that “nobody will ever want to put or invest money in an insecure country. So we will deal with this issue of insecurity decisively. We will start by reorganizing our security architecture. We will then bring in more hands into the security system, and motivate them properly, so that we can defeat the issue of insecurity . It’s the most important thing that Nigeria needs today”.
