COMBAT said in a statement on Sunday that Tinubu is the front-runner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari due to his accomplishments while serving as governor of Lagos State (retd.).

The committee concluded that the four front-runners had the trait of having previously run for and won governorships in their respective states as one thing that seemed to unite them. Furthermore, they have held a variety of political roles inside the federal government.

In promoting democratic consolidation to reposition Nigeria before and throughout his stint as governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands out among the leading candidates, according to the statement. It is well known that he would be much better able to restructure the country if given the opportunity to lead it because of his support for extending the boundaries of governance through the establishment of local government and efforts to maintain it despite opposition from the PDP government under the Obasanjo-Atiku tickets. This cannot be compared to Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who during his eight years in administration refused to allow the democratic election of local government chairman.

It was customary for states to send distribution bowls to Abuja at the start of the democratic system in 1999 in order to survive, but Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu intervened in the areas of internal revenue production, which helped Lagos State become prosperous. Lagos transformed from generating internal revenue of 600 million to 20 billion naira into a model for 35 states and, more recently, the federal government to increase the creation of money.

Examining Tinubu’s financial achievements puts him ahead of rival candidates for being acknowledged as the visionary behind the prosperous economy of Lagos State as a prologue to restructuring Nigeria’s economy. No other contender can match Tinubu’s record of raising N15 billion through bonds, which he used to pioneer initiatives in the nation. The states have maintained their status as the country’s economic and commercial centre and the fourth largest economy in Africa thanks to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s eight years in office as governor and their impressive performance track record.

Despite the present administration’s efforts to clean up the mess, the PDP government’s $16 billion and privatization-related solution to the country’s electricity problems—in which Atiku Abubakar, the party’s former vice president, had a key role—remains a phantom. It is a well-known truth that, other from Tinubu, none of the other candidates have any prior experience with power-related issues. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration made Lagos State the first state government to create electricity through an independent power project run by the American company ENRON, which produced 90MW and enhanced the state’s electrical supply.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be the ideal successor to build on the accomplishments of the current APC government in the area of the New National Infrastructural Plans on the table of the Government, according to the transformation of Lagos state with innovation that resulted in the creation of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, the Eko Atlantic, and many road projects that have helped to solidify Lagos’s status as a mega city.

“Under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as governor of Lagos, he stood out among the candidates for the presidency in 2023 by implementing a free education programme for all Lagos State public schools, which included free registration for the WAEC and NECO exams, bursary/scholarship allowances, and school upgrading.
