The Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign group has ruled out the possibility of the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the general elections of 2023, adamant that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would get significant support in nearly every part of the nation.
Bayo Onanuga, the group’s director of media and publicity, said in an appearance on Arise TV on Thursday, September 08, 2022 that the Southeast region, where Obi hails from, is up for grabs and reminded Nigerians that the APC controls two of the region’s five states.
“We are confident that we will receive the necessary votes in each state in the Southeast. Additionally, APC is widely popular in the South-South, particularly in the states of the Delta and the Rivers. The Northeast, North Central, and Northwest experienced the same thing, Onanuga said.
Onanuga responded to allegations that he had accused Obi of violating the law about his campaign financial concerns, saying, “I never stated Peter Obi was breaching the law but I did say he is a social media creation and he will pan out very soon. We did not make the claim about the funds for the diaspora.

A lot of the people who propagated this rumour don’t speak for the party, he added. “We also want to emphasise to the media that the issue of Diaspora funds didn’t emerge from us.”
When the actual campaigning begin, Onanuga predicted that the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will capitalise on the enormous accomplishments of the Buhari-led administration.

“Despite the misleading news in the media, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be running his campaign on the bold legacies of the PMB government and its many accomplishments. Undoubtedly, there are difficulties, but they are being resolved.
“There appears to be a media plot to hide the accomplishments of the government, particularly its victories against terrorists and bandits in the North East. According to Onanuga, this administration has seen a boom in the tech industry, which has helped the economy.
