There were rumours that the governors would meet with the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in London, but this could not be confirmed because the former Lagos State governor was still in Nigeria as of Friday night.

“Governors Wike, Ikpeazu, and Ortom have travelled to the United Kingdom for another round of discussions and horse-trading for the 2023 elections,” a source confirmed.

“They left on Friday, and they are set to meet with important stakeholders again.”

The travel was confirmed by another person close to one of the governors.

When reached, Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Oyo State, claimed he was unaware of the planned meeting, but verified that Makinde was still on vacation in London and would return this weekend.

This comes as the PDP’s crisis deepens due to Wike’s call for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The governor is demanding Ayu’s resignation due to purported roles he played in the election of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential candidate.

Wike has been at odds with his party’s presidential candidate over the selection of his running partner, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

He earlier met with prominent APC members, including the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu; House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila; Aliyu Wamakko; Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi; and the governors of Ondo and Lagos, Rotimi Akeredolu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others.
