Through the State Chairman, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, Odunjo wrote a letter to the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, on Thursday in which he expressed his desire to leave the position and the party.

He expressed his gratitude to Ogundele and the other PDP members in the state for their support, affection, and cooperation and that he will miss them all.

“I humbly write to tell your excellency of my decision to quit as the state deputy chairman of Ogun State and as a member of the party,” the letter said in part.

“I give God the glory for allowing me to serve the organisation faithfully and diligently since her founding in 1998. Up to my resignation, I worked for the party in a variety of positions, including State Chairman (West) twice and substantive State Deputy Chairman.

“I was a member of Ogun State House of Assembly for eight years, governorship aspirant, House of representative aspirant and the senatorial candidate of the party in the last general election, to mention few.”

Odunjo cited “personal and divine” reasons for his resignation, saying, “My decision to resign my position and also leave the party is ‘personal and divine’.

“I want to use this opportunity to specially appreciate the state chairman and all members of the state working committee for their support, cooperation, and the love we have shared together. It was nice working with you all. I’m going to miss you all.

“I also extend my appreciation to all the local government chairmen, state executive members of the party, those that left the party before me and those that are still in the party, in my local government, Ado-Odo/Ota and across Ogun State.

“This will come as rude shock to many of the party members. All the members of the staff of the party secretariat are also appreciated,” he added.
