Former Nigerian Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has denied rumours that he left the party in power, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Monday, July 25, the politician firmly said on his verified Twitter account that any information not coming from him or his official social media handles should be ignored.
“Reports that I have left @OfficialAPCNg are not true. Any announcement that does not emanate from me directly or on my verified social media pages concerning my political affiliation is fake,” he tweeted.
InsightnaijaTV recalls that Fani-Kayode switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the nation’s primary opposition party, to the APC in September 2021.
The lawyer was guided to visit President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa by the governors of Zamfara State, Mai Mala Buni and the then-chairman of the APC’s Caretaker Committee, Bello Matawalle.
The former minister claimed that in making his choice to join the APC to promote national unity, he was guided by the Spirit of God.
Fani-Kayode said in one of his assertions that he joined a progressive and tolerant group. He emphasised that the APC he joined was distinct from the one he previously harshly condemned.
When asked during an interview with Channels Tv months ago if he decamped to APC for financial gain, Fani-Kayode said: “I find that very insulting whether it is coming from you or my critics, I am not the first person that would decamp to the APC, have you asked others this same question?
