After Jude Ezenwafor, the former chairman of the Labour Party in Anambra State, was declared the victor of a presidential primary held by a segment of the party, the party is in turmoil.
Ezenwafor’s confirmation took place in Abuja on Wednesday.
“I’m on a rescue mission to save Nigeria from the current social, economic, and political crises.”
“The Labour Party will be victorious in the general election.” Our party will seize power in Nigeria and restore the country’s splendor.
“I’ve spent the last 20 years in the halls of government.” “We’re on a rescue mission,” Ezenwafor said.
The news comes only days after Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, was voted as the LP’s presidential candidate in a primary organized by the party’s Julius Abure-led wing.
Calistus Okafor, the chairman of another faction of the party, contested the constitutionality of the Abure-led group in an Abuja Federal High Court prior to Obi’s primary victory.
On May 30, the presiding judge, Inyang Ekwo, issued an order to serve the LP and some of its officers with a new complaint challenging the party’s leadership.
The matter was then adjourned until June 30 to allow for more thought.
All political parties have until June 9 to finish their primaries, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
