Lawan’s supporters were said to be led by Chief Sam Nkire, a member of the party’s National Caucus, and 15 other Senators.

As a result, the Senate President is the 24th candidate to submit an expression of interest and nomination form to the APC.
The APC’s primary election was set for May 30.
