Sen. Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has described himself as a guy with the intellectual capacity and audacity to lead Nigeria out of its current difficulties if elected.

Saraki, a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the statement during a visit to Akure to solicit support from the party’s delegates.

He predicted that the 2023 elections would be a watershed moment for the country, stating that Nigeria needed a president who understood the economy and was willing to make sacrifices to help the country overcome its current problems.

Saraki stated that Nigeria needs a president who was energetic enough to run the country for 24 hours or more if necessary.

His political experience and antecedents, he claims, have demonstrated that he is capable of serving as president of the country.

He recounted how, as governor of Kwara, he was able to positively restructure the state.

Saraki claimed that if elected president of the country, he would repeat his successes as Senate President.

Mr. Fatai Adams, the state chairman of the PDP, said that the former Senate President turned around the National Assembly during his time.

Saraki, Adams continued, “made the country proud” throughout his term and “did not make the legislature an appendage of the executive arm of government.”

Saraki, he said, is a son of the state because his mother and wife are both from the state.

Saraki’s credentials, he claims, speak for themselves, claiming that he is one of the best and a true and respectable ambassador for the country.

Though he should not offer the presidential candidate a scorecard, the PDP chairman stated that the state would not fail him.

Mr. Earl Osaro, the Director-General of the Saraki Campaign Organisation, also urged party delegates and the people of the state to show their support for Saraki.

Saraki, according to Osaro, was a good product to promote because of his capacity and assertiveness.

Saraki, he continued, was a link between the North and the South, Muslims and Christians, who could help Nigeria overcome its current problems.
