Police officers have been detained for reportedly shooting Samuel Akinsuyi, a student at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic in Eruwa, Oyo State.
During a stop and search, Samuel, a Business Administration student at Eruwa Poly, was abused and then shot in the leg by an unidentified police officer.
Last Friday, the undergraduate was attacked while traveling from Eruwa to Ibadan.
The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, confirmed the arrest of the individuals involved in a statement made on Tuesday.
DSP Adewale Osifeso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, had ordered full-scale inquiries into the events that led to the tragic tragedy.
The command is presently examining the case, according to the police spokesman, and all of the operators involved have been identified and apprehended.
According to Osifeso, a debriefing is currently underway, followed by the start of their orderly room testing.
“In furtherance to the above, the Commissioner of Police, therefore, appeals for calm and affirms the assurances of a thorough and diligent investigation with adequate sanctions meted out in accordance to relevant laws and statutes,” the PS said while promising that updates would be given on the matter in due course.
Meanwhile, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, also known as Erelu Okin, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for her controversial political organization in the state.
On March 4, she handed kegs of gasoline as souvenirs at an event held at the Havilah Events Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island.
Adekunle Ajisebutu, the command’s spokesman, said in a statement released on Tuesday that Ogbolu was charged in court on Monday.
Ogbolu was charged with four counts of behavior likely to create a breach of peace and endangering human life by disseminating incendiary material in a public place.
InsightnaijaTV reported that she has also been charged with intent to hurt another, unauthorized storage, and containerizing petroleum products without a permit.
It was gathered that Ogbolu was hauled before the Special Offences (Mobile) Court of Lagos State in Oshodi under Ikeja Magisterial District.
However, the official did not say if Ogbolu had pled guilty or not to the allegations.
