Mr. Abubakar Aliyu, Minister of Power, has stated that the Federal Government is eager to collaborate with electricity sector investors to increase the country’s power supply.
This was stated in a statement by Mr Mathew Osumanyi Dan’asabe, Information Officer, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Power.
Aliyu stated this while receiving Turkey’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Hidayet Bayratar, along with two other delegates in Abuja.
He stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s objective for the power sector was to ensure that both the government and private sectors owned the energy supply industry.
According to him, the relationship between Nigeria and Turkey has been long-standing, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries in October 2021 for mutual benefit.
Aliyu informed the ambassador that numerous interventions were being made in the country’s power industry.
He described the distribution component of the country’s power sector as an area worth investing in.
The minister asked Turkey and the rest of the world to collaborate with Nigeria and share expertise in energy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.
In his statement, the ambassador stated that their visit was a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding inked in 2021.
