Your Future Is In Your PVC’s, Get Them, Former Lagos Governor Ambode Tells Youths

Former Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode said power is in the hands of Nigerian youths ahead of the 2023 elections.

Being a former governor, Ambode has chances in PDP, says party chieftain | Nigeria Dispatch

In a short message culled from his twitter handle, the former Governor stated that “God has been faithful after all we’ve been through”, thanked those that endorsed his administration’s modest contribution to the growth of Lagos and called on Nigerian youths to ensure they get their PVC’s ahead of the 2023 general elections.

After all we have been through, God has been faithful. The youths are coming and power is in their hands - Ambode writes on Instagram
This short message is regarded as a sharp rejection of the spirit of imposition and godfatherism is seen as a wake up call to the Nigerian youths not to undermine participatory politics.

Ambode’s statement comes amid encouragement from some groups in Lagos State urging him to re-contest for the office of Lagos State governor for another four years.

While Ambode has not accepted or declined the calls, his supposed ambition (if any) might be running against the political hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State where he lost his second-term election bid to current Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Ambode’s fallout with former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu was evident when the APC national leader said Ambode sidelined members of the party during his four years in office.

Tinubu, who has declared to contest for the office of Nigeria president in 2023, said he refused to back Ambode for a second term because he deviated from the master plan created for the development of the state.

Political observers see this recent statement by Mr. Ambode as not only an inspiration but a massive boost to INEC advocatory policies and a clarion call for a departure from the old ways of politics characterized by rigging “go get your PVC’s ready”, His statement reads.
