Some worshippers who turned up to attend worship service on Sunday 19th September in Kabba, Kogi state were shocked when gunmen invaded the service.
The heavily armed gunmen, six in number, stormed the ongoing service around 10.15am at an ECWA church, killed one person, and abducted two of the worshippers.
According to information obtained by InsightnaijaTV, the hoodlums stormed the church with guns and cutlasses, shooting sporadically into the air and forcing worshippers to scamper for safety.
Those kidnapped were two of the eldest persons in the church while some other persons also sustained various degrees of injury in the chaos that ensued.
Speaking about the unfortunate incident, one of the worshippers identified as Kayode Akanbi said they were just settling down for service when the gunmen arrived.
“We were trying to commence the normal service,” he said.
“We just started the call to worship and I was interpreting the pastor’s message when suddenly the gunmen entered from the main entrance and raised their guns.
“They shot sporadically and everybody started scampering to safety,” he told NAN.
Those who sustained injuries during the attack have been taken to a hospital in Lokoja where they are receiving treatment while the body of the dead person has been deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital in Kabba.
Confirming the attack on the church, the spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command William Aya said investigation has been launched into the matter and the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to justice.
