Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA Kicks Off Sensitization Campaign On Mass Literacy

Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, has kicked off the 2021 sensitization and mobilization campaign on mass literary.

The campaign kicked-off on Thursday, with the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Education, Hon. Phillip Tokunbo Wahab, urging the people in the LCDA to take advantage of the literacy programme to improve their knowledge.

In a press release by the LG public affairs/Information unit, Hon. Phillip, while speaking at the campaign venue, said the call became imperative to open the inner minds of the people to escape pitfalls associated with inability to read and write.

“As observed in the drama presentation, anyone, who has no reading and writing knowledge is open to fraud and cheat”, the S.A. said; adding that Governor Sanwo-Olu created the Agency for Mass Literacy to make everyone compliant with the Mega City tag of Lagos State.

Hon. Phillip, who was represented by the Permananet Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Waheed Kasali, said Mr. Governor has insisted that everyone in Lagos must learn reading and writing ability to ensure compliance with 20th Century Lagos.

The Special Adviser praised the Executive Chairman, Hon. David Oladapo Famuyiwa, for his belief in Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s policy to make Lagos a 99.9 per cent literate.

In his remark, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Famuyiwa, said the LCDA is the most densely populated in Lagos; and commenced MG for his magnanimity in choosing Agbado/Oke-Odo as the take-off point for the year’s _ĖKÓ NKĖ KÒÕ_ literacy programme.

Hon. Famuyiwa assured the Special Adviser of his cooperation to ensure that majority of the LCDA populace know how to read and write.

The literacy programme tagged _ĖKÓ NKĖ KÒÕ_ of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is meant to assist the illiterates in Lagos State to know how to read and write.

Present at the campaign were the traditional rulers, members of Community DevelopmentCommittee, religious leaders, Iyaloja of Agbado/Oke-Odo, Chief (Mrs.) Funmi Alabi George, state officials and members of the management of the LCDA.
