The Ijede local council development area today graduated and empowered trainees from the Ijede LCDA Vocational Center at Egbe.
The event which took place at the Council Secretariat saw a large turn out of the graduands and their well-wishers who graced the occasion.
The Council Chairman Alhaji Fatiu Salisu said the vision of his administration in resursitating the hitherto moribund center is to have a center where people in the council area can acquire practical skills that will equip them to be gainfully employed and self reliant.
Alhaji Salisu said his joy is fulfilled as he sees the graduands making use of the knowledge acquired for the benefit of the nation, their community and themselves.
A total number of four hundred and eighty three people were graduated from the Catering Department, Fashion Department, Cosmetology and Barbing Department and Tilling Department.
Speaking at the event, the wife of the Chairman Alhaja Riskat Salisu said it is gratifying to see the efforts of the Local Council not only bearing fruits but blossoming despite the lean resources of the local government.
She appreciated everyone that had supported the administration to achieve good success and prayed for the graduands for a successful and rewarding future.
Alhaja Salisu encouraged parents in the council area to enroll their children and wards at the center to keep them gainfully engaged and to also add value to themselves.
The Chairman thereafter thanked all the donors that partnered with the local government to achieve the success of the graduation ceremony.
Empowerment equipments and start up kits were presented to outstanding students as political leaders in the local council took turn to charge the graduands to reciprocate the goodwill of the local government by making use of the empowerment materials optimally.
