A 40-year-old man whose name is revealed as Mathew has landed himself in trouble after he was caught with underwear and bra belonging to the owner of the hotel he lodged in Delta State.
InsightnaijaTV understands that the suspect was arrested by the Delta State Police Command following a call by the proprietor of Stop Over Hotel in Delta at about 4:00 am on Monday, February 1.
Mathew who hails from Ogwashi-Uku town was said to have visited Asaba for medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre but lodged at the Stop Over Hotel for some rest from his medical condition.
The hotel proprietor, Mr Victor Odiachi and his wife reportedly booked the suspect a room on the ground floor of the hotel due to his health condition. However, at midnight, the hotel owner when he woke up to collect his phones in the sitting room, noticed that the two phones had been switched off.
Curious with the development, Mr Odiachi walked to his flower vase where he usually keeps his car key, only to discover that the key had been taken away.
Narrating the incident, Mr Odiachi said he and his wife entered the room, where the suspect lodged, and when asked about the car key, he gave it to them, saying he saw it on the floor. He said they became suspicious and his wife attempted to pull off the mattress on the bed but the suspect tried to prevent her, adding that it was when he shouted at him that he stopped resisting.
InsightnaijaTV learnt that on moving the mattress, a knotted wrapper containing three of Mr Odiachi’s pants, his wife’s bra and wrapper as well as the gate key was found inside, wrapped in black cellophane.

Open the discovery of the items, Mathew begged Mr Odiachi and his wife not to expose him and offered to give them N10, 000 to cover up the incident.
Immediately, Mr Odiachi put a call through to the police and handed the suspect over to them upon their arrival at about 4:00 am that night.
Mathew’s intention with the recovered items is, however, undisclosed.
