Delta-born politician and billionaire, Ned Nwoko has shared his thoughts about former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi’s participation in the forthcoming presidential election under Labour Party’s platform.

Nwoko said the Igbos have been clamoring for the presidential seat, votes from delegates during PDP/APC primaries proved otherwise. It is clear, the Igbos are very selfish people and not ready for 2023 presidency.

Authorities exonerate ex-lawmaker Ned Nwoko of land grabbing allegation - Premium Times Nigeria

Speaking with BBC Igbo, Nwoko said, “Igbos are not ready for the presidency . It is not just enough to talk about it, we are not ready and I’m talking about the political class and the voters. If the people are ready for Igbo presidency that would have been shown by the result from delegates.

“Very few delegates from the East supported Igbo candidates, they supported somebody else for other reasons. Ask Imo delegates why they chose another person as opposed to Umahi.

“Igbos are largely very selfish, the typical Igbo man is thinking about himself and not the well-being of others. If they were, they would stick with an Igbo person. I think the best person from Nigeria should come from anywhere. I’ve never subscribed to zoning and believe in merit.”

The Delta-born politician stated that he would like Peter Obi to come back to the Peoples Democratic Party as he will do well as a Minister of Economy and will also help the economy bounce back.

Nwoko further claimed that though Peter Obi is popular and might have a support base, he doesn’t have the structure to function as he would need the majority in either house of reps or senate, state house of assemblies and government.
