Prior to the 2023 general elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar plans to run his campaign without the support of the G-5 governors.
The five disgruntled PDP governors’ positions have reportedly been weakened by the former vice president, according to a report.
Atiku’s followers launched the first phase of his campaign last week by calling for Tajudeen Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, to quit.
The call was made in response to a quote reportedly made by CJN in which he was said to have supported the G-5 governors.

In the second phase, Atiku and his supporters would set up clandestine campaign offices in the states of Rivers, Oyo, Benue, Enugu, and Abia.
Any attempt by Atiku’s supporters to openly canvass votes in the states led by the G5 governors, according to a source who talked with the Saturday Sun, could lead to a serious altercation.
He stated: Jonathan has informed Atiku’s campaign team that he is unwilling to work for the former vice president.
Atiku has chosen to continue on. Additionally, he is aware that votes from the North are all but guaranteed, and that he will need some help from the South. PDP’s strength is the South-South geopolitical region.
Atiku is prepared to use the ensuing two months to bring the battle to the area, and he is confident he will be successful. They will infiltrate Wike’s camp and prevent him from surpassing Atiku in the area.
Peter Obi won’t have it easy, not even in the South East. Atiku’s guys are there and engaged in work. There will be a clash in the area between Obi and Atiku.
